Dear all,

PhD position in mathematical/computational neuroscience is available from the University of Exeter: “To swim or to struggle: how tadpole motor circuits reconfigure themselves in a fraction of a second”.

Details: https://www.exeter.ac.uk/study/funding/award/?id=4317<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.exeter.ac.uk%2Fstudy%2Ffunding%2Faward%2F%3Fid%3D4317&data=04%7C01%7CR.M.Borisyuk%40exeter.ac.uk%7C9b071c836ea04c85d72508d99acda6a9%7C912a5d77fb984eeeaf321334d8f04a53%7C0%7C0%7C637711030312106712%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=%2Bv40iy9Jm5z%2FLnsn%2F5FDKPCh8r%2FzaM9qZuA9jiTKeC8%3D&reserved=0>

This 3.5 years PhD project deals with mathematical and computational modelling of tadpole motor neuronal networks aiming to find how these circuits reconfigure themselves to switch between swimming to struggling behavior. The PhD student will work under supervision of Prof Roman Borisyuk and Dr Joel Tabak at the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences, University of Exeter, UK. PhD student will collaborate with the BBSRC project research team working on understanding the neuronal mechanisms of struggling behaviour. The team includes modellers from the University of Exeter and neurobiologists from the University of St Andrews.

We are seeking talented and enthusiastic researchers to work on this exciting project! Applicants for this studentship must have obtained, or be about to obtain, a First or Upper Second Class UK Honours degree, or the equivalent qualifications gained outside the UK, in an appropriate area of science or technology such as Computational Neuroscience, Mathematics, Computer Science or similar disciplines.
